Livestock Computer Vision
Livestock computer vision uses standard cameras and software to see what's happening in a barn — counting animals through pile-ups, estimating weight from the camera, reading gait and behaviour, and mapping distribution across the pen. It is the sensing layer that turns what your cameras already see into the counts, weights and warnings DeepLoop acts on.
A barn camera on its own just records — someone still has to watch the footage and count. Computer vision is the layer that does the watching: it finds each animal in the frame, tracks it, reads its behaviour, and turns that into data your records and decisions can use. DeepLoop runs this on standard consumer cameras across pig, broiler and layer houses, with no proprietary hardware.
What it sees
Headcount through pile-ups and crowding, individual weight and growth without a scale, gait and movement patterns, feeding and drinking activity, distribution and density across the pen or shed, and welfare-relevant cues like respiration, coughing and feather cover. Each of these feeds a specific decision on the farm.
Why standard cameras suffice
You don't need lidar, depth sensors or proprietary imaging modules. Modern computer vision pulls the signals it needs — count, weight, behaviour, distribution — out of the ordinary closed-circuit cameras you'd install anyway. That removes the hardware markup and the vendor lock-in that have kept vision out of most barns.
What it feeds into
Vision output doesn't stop at a dashboard. Every count, weight and behaviour reading flows into the closed loop — headcount reconciled, mortality updated, FCR and days to market recalculated, feed and climate targets adjusted — so what the cameras see turns into action within minutes, not next week.

Do I need special cameras or sensors?
No. DeepLoop runs on standard consumer cameras. You receive a specification list and buy from any supplier — no proprietary connectors, no lidar, no vendor lock-in, no markup.
Which animals does it work with?
Pigs, broilers and layers. The same vision layer runs across all three: counting finishing pigs, estimating broiler weights without a scale, reading layer behaviour and distribution.
Can it really count animals through pile-ups?
Yes. The tracking model holds identity across crowding, obstruction and movement — so a pig or bird that drops behind a group is still counted, not lost from the inventory.
Does computer vision replace my farm staff?
No. It removes the watching and counting burden so your people spend their time on the animals that need attention. Vision output feeds alerts and records, but the decisions stay with your team.
